I'm not one of those people that likes to make New Years Resolutions. I tried to do them a few
times but like most people I don't stick to them. So a few years ago I started making lists of things I would like to do or accomplish in my year so that at the end of each year, I can look back and say I did this or I tried that. I want experiences that fill my year with great memories. I feel like sometimes the year flies by without you noticing and sometimes you wonder where all the time has gone. Making lists helps me make sure I'm living life and not just coasting through it with work and more work.
Last year I accomplished many of the things on my list and this year I hope to accomplish many more. Each year my list starts of small and grows as the year goes on. Here is what I have on my list so far.
  • Hold a Koala. I cannot believe I have never done this. I'm the worst Australian ever.

  • Go Snorkelling.  The idea of doing this terrifies me but I want to try it. Australia has some of the most beautiful sea life in the world and I want to see it for myself.

  • See a play. I think the last time that I saw something on stage, I was in high school which is just sad. So many great shows come to Australia every year and I always talk about wanting to see them but never actually do it. This year, that will change. (Book of Mormon - please come to Queensland!)

  • Go to the Beach. It seems so simple but I realised recently that it has been about two years since I've been to the beach and I've got no excuse because Australia=beaches.

  • Go to a Concert. I love live music. There is nothing more amazing than experiencing your favourite musicians live. I saw quite a few great ones in the last few years and they are some of my fondest memories.

  • Go Horse Riding. Horses were my life when I was a kid and I was lucky enough to have a friend that had one I could ride whenever I wanted. It's been years since I've gone riding and I want to do it again. Anyone want to go on a riding trail with me?

  • Go for a hike. I'm pretty lucky to be from such a beautiful country and there are places in Australia that take your breath away. There are so many beautiful walking trails all over the place and I think it's about time that I get off my ass and visit some!

  • Ride the Wheel of Brisbane. The Wheel of Brisbane is one of those things I see all the time but have never been on. Every time I walk or drive by it I think, I'm gonna go on that thing one day. I walked passed to just two days ago! I'm so slack.

  • Go to the Casino. I've never been to a casino. I have walked passed Treasury Casino probably hundreds of times in my life but I have never been inside.

  • Buy a car. UPDATE: As of the 24th of Feb I am officially a car owner! I bought myself a brand new 2017 Mazda 2 Maxx and she is a beauty.

  • Be on my P's. I avoided learning to drive for the longest time because of a fear of it. But now I'm ready to be out there and cruising around on my own. Fingers crossed it doesn't take me too long.

  • Try Mini-Golf. I have no idea why I want to do this, I just do. I see it on TV and movies and it looks like fun. Now I just have to find someone to come with me!

  • Take a Cooking Class. I'm a pretty good cook but I am quite simple in my cooking. I like straightforward clean foods and I find myself sticking to the same simple meals over and over again which can sometimes get boring. So I want to branch out and try cooking something new - with supervision from a professional! Haha!

  • Have my eyebrows tattooed. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. My eyebrows are quite thin and sparse and to make them look normal I have to fill them in, especially because I dye my hair dark and my eyebrows are a lighter colour. However, I hate wearing makeup. I have reactions to makeup that aren't pleasant so I pretty much avoid wearing it. Having my eyebrows feathered would mean never having to worry about it again. I could literally say I woke up like this!
As you can see, these lists don't have to be anything profound or huge significant accomplishments. Sometimes its the little things that bring you joy in life - just doing things for you. They can cost a little or a lot or nothing at all. I'm looking forward to hopefully doing each and every one of these things this year. This year is all about making memories. What do you want to accomplish on 2017? Do you have goals that you set or lists of things you want to do like I do? What's on your list for the year?
